Oh hai!!! I are gettin married!!!

So...yeah. I popped the question to that someone I was talking about in an earlier post. So here are the deets. I have been pondering this question for a bit...not the question, but how to ask it...how to make it romantic and distinctively me. I was going to pop the question the girl in question (aka Lisa) last Sunday...but it somehow didn't feel like the right time. There was something telling me it was not right. On Wednesday Aug 15th...I knew why.

My friend Rob (who is also the pastor at my faith community The Gig) and I had lunch this day. We were talking about all sorts of things...and then he asked me if I would like to share some of my music and some testimony with the community. Of course I was completely willing. So, we continued to chat and enjoy the somewhat ok weather. As we were talkin something started buzzing in my brain...it was not until I had settled into my cozy cube with my hot cuppa from Matter of Taste that the proverbial light bulb blinked above my head.

DING! DING! DING!! "We got ah winnah!!" What better way to do it? On stage doing what I love in the place that Lisa and I both love, our church. So the long and the short of it was I played Change, The Story(a cover by Brandi Carlile), Save Me and Hope is There. I tied them into a proposal and BAM! There you go!

Love ya all,

Jonathan

Thrilling Thursdays...

hey now...how are ya? I hope good. Feeling pretty nice today. Albeit sleepy...I am good. Went to see The Stars Here & Luke Doucet play at the Starlight Social Club last night. The boys(The Stars Here) were awesome as per usual. It was my first time seeing Luke Doucet so I had nothing to compare it to. Very musically sound. Nice tracks and very good players in the band accompanying him. Danny Michel also made a guest appearance, playing keys, shakers and tambo. All around a very good time. My buddy Dan was there last night too with a fella named Michael from where Dan and I both work. He's a huge Doucet fan and was rockin out when the fella got up to play.

I am getting HUGELY excited about tonight...I am playing at Cafe on King as I mentioned in a previous post...Sarah Loucks is coming in from Peterborough, ON and I am keen to see her live. This is gonna be a fun night, I can feel it! My mom, my brother and maybe my dad will be there. Lisa, my girlfriend is coming and so are some of my really close friends. Anywho...rock on!!! I am looking forward to the update for tomorrow!! Wish me good luckies!!!

My baby...

This is my baby. Her name is Autumn. I love the name, we came together in the fall...so it's like guitar&man love destiny. It's not how it sounds! Even though I have fallen asleep with her in my arms...there is no inter-species, cross pollination action action going down!

So yeah...the story of how we met...it was a cold and windy (somewhat drizzly) September day when we first met. Although we did not know until about the beginning of November that our paths were going to be alongside each other. I was in the market for a new guitar because my older guitar was getting a bit worn and there were some repairs needed that would cost me what I paid for it.

I was not quite expecting to be moving into a new axe for sometime, but hey, what are you going to do. Plus, not so secretly I was excited about getting a new guitar, not a used. I know there is lot of savings to be had in a used quality instrument....but I wanted to do something nice for myself and I decided a new guitar would be that thing...plus it's an investment into my future. She sounds sweet right now but will only get better as she mellows over the years. I am enjoying the now and looking forward to the 'then' with her. It's gonna be a beautiful ride.

So...back to our meeting. I was traipsing about the city and cities not of my current dwelling, seeking 'the one' out. I played about 60-70 different guitars of all makes and models. I still remember touching her for the first time, I was sitting down in that humidified room and there were two guitars I kept playing over and over again. Autumn and another Taylor worth 3 times as much as Autumn. (Oh yeah, Autumn is a Taylor) www.taylorguitars.com Now don't get me wrong here, the other unit was great. Its sound was awesome...but Autumn just spoke to me when she was in my hands...not to mention out of them. Anyways...the more I played Autumn, the more it made sense. Definitely in my budget and such a lovely instrument...how could I resist? That is the story behind how my baby and I came together. Look forward to sharing more with ya!

Peace&Pints!!! And back to practice!

I <3 someone

Teehee! I <3 someone special.

There something really cool about finding someone. Someone who fits all yer little things that don't fit anyone else. Someone who accepts the fact that yer weird and makes you feel normal about it.

I like that. I like that alot.

Thursday the Magnificent

Wow...what a day Thursdays can be. Just kidding. I sit here at work, trying to figure out this report query...all the while listening to some nice tunes. I find it difficult today to find my focus for this work...I still wonder some days why I ever got into this line of work. It pays the bills...and that is a good thing. Oh well.

A good friend of mine recently purchased me a copy of New Moon by Elliott Smith. Elliott was a singer/songwriter from Portland. I have been listening to it non-stop since receiving this lovely double CD. I know this may seem a little on the obsessive side, but hey, what can I say? I like it. Come to think of it...all I really listen to of late is Elliott. There is some occasional interludes of favorites, but Mr Smith has been the front runner on my music time. Anyways...not the most exciting blog...but this working has got me down.

Brighter skies ahead sunshine!

Bye fer now!

first brog errrr blog

Oh hai! I are makinz a blogz! Teehar!!

Ok...enough of that...even though I could lolspeak for dayz n dayzez!! Harhar!

So...first blog dealy type thing-a-ma-whatsit....(ma within any word makes me laughish).

What to say, what not to say....oh there is lots and lots in that toy chest. I am not sure where to begin or even why I began this thing but what's done is done. Now I am committed...no matter what. Even more so than say the commitment to finish a novella or angry prose for an ex lover. There is something very tasty about being able to drop yer thoughts onto e-paper and let it be known the rest of the google-verse. Hehehe, google-ma-verse! :)

Ookies...I shall not introduce myself, rather I will let you discover me like a newly found country or Ontario if you like; via my ramblings. Other than my name is Jonathan. Another cool thing about this is, well, there is no form or structure other than the blog page... I like that. Very much in fact...the only thing I might enjoy more than that would be the ability for my words to appear in a circular shape....that would be cool. Or I might like some guitar time right now. Yes, I do believe guitar time would be more enjoyable than the two previously listed points.

I will write more....soon like. Hehehehe.

Byeeee!
